Nurturing young minds

Sunny Side Montessori specialises in children from 18 months to 6 years old.

What we do

By providing quality education that incorporates independence, creativity and student-focused learning – within a safe and homely environment – Sunny Side Montessori School develops the right foundational skills for children to reach their full potential.

Why we’re here

By helping to ensure children are nurtured and inspired, Sunny Side aids in the development of self-confidence and self-esteem, building a positive foundation for the innovators of tomorrow.

What makes us unique?

Sunny Side strives to nurture young minds by making education an enjoyable adventure. By guiding children to explore the limitless world around them in creative ways, we give them the freedom to: follow their passion, love what they do, grow as independent individuals and reach their natural potential.

How do we do this?

Why The Montessori Way?

Maria Montessori, the founder of Montessori, spent a great deal of time observing and studying children. She saw that they held something wonderful within them and realised that, with the right equipment to facilitate learning, they had great potential to develop and grow. Maria also discovered how children learnt from their physical experiences of the world through their senses and by carefully designing materials she could help extend this understanding.

We understand that children need freedom to develop as spontaneous, creative individuals. The Montessori environment is designed to give children this freedom, allowing them to become wonderfully dynamic learners who are able to reach their potential. As unique individuals, children are encouraged to work and learn at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Montessori is a child-centred approach to learning, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures all over the world. Schooling includes multistage groupings (children aged 3 – 6 years old) that foster peer learning, uninterrupted blocks of work time and guided choice of work activity. In addition, a full complement of specially designed Montessori learning materials are arranged and available for use in an aesthetically pleasing environment.

I like the way teacher Caitlin listened to me. She showed me how to draw a circle and I loved her hugs and kisses when my heart got sore.

Caitlin is the kindest teacher I have ever had. She is funny, unique and she always drew the most beautiful pictures for us. I love her so much and she brings me so much joy.
